WashingtonPost.com – English pop star Ed Sheeran, who is performing at the Verizon Center on Tuesday and Wednesday, took batting practice at Nationals Park before Monday’s postponed game.

A word of advice: Don’t ask Sheeran to be your proxy in the Nationals’ Swing for Your Seats promotion.

Sheeran looked good in his Nationals jersey and cap, but Taylor Swift’s pal sings a lot better than he hits. (I’d heard Sheeran’s songs before, but like my colleague Barry Svrluga, I didn’t know who he was or what he looked like before Monday.)

Sheeran, who posed for a photo with F.P. Santangelo, admitted to knowing even less about baseball (“nothing”) than I know about pop culture.

Earlier this month, Sheeran attended a Mets-Phillies game at Citi Field and sported a Mets cap. You do you, Ed.
